WOW...what an amazing flower this is! Love it. Great colors...
I know you've had a lot of rain, we've had NONE! In the 80s the past few weeks. Everything is so dry, hope we get flowers in spring and summer. Desert is even hurting.
Love the one below also!! Lori :)

Oh wow! ...*makes mental note of bud appearance for future reference*... I've not actually seen a Lilac bud before. The colours are gorgeous and the shapes are amazing. Great DoF here Susie and I LOVE the second one too! Spectacular post.
Thanks for swinging by earlier. Yes, yesterday's cricket was particularly intense. Nothing was going right for the NBLs and they lost the match :( Not to worry though, the season's not over yet!
Cheers Rina

Beautiful clear details and gorgeous colours Susie. Such a welcome sight. I hope that they survive any cold snaps. I agree with other comments you secondary shot was worthy of posting too or maybe presented in a collage alongside one another. The dof is perfect in both. I'll go one stage further than Ann:-
The Spring has sprung, the grass has riz...I wonder where the daisies is....They are all going to pop up in your garden soon sweetie.. Well done to you Susie...Best wishes...Ray

Hi Lisa, Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it! I just love this lens. It also has an Image Stabilizer which I think makes all the difference. I find I use it almost all the time. Once in a while I'll put on the longer one but this is my lens of choice right now. Are you a wedding photographer? If so, would you mind if I ask you a question or two? My sister and I are photographing my nieces wedding at the end of March and I have some questions about saving images for printing different sizes. My email is oconnorsusie@aol.com if you have time. Thanks again! Have a great weekend. Susie

Very good colors in this image. I like the angle of the bloom in this shot. DOF is wonderful, allows the subject to pop out of the frame.

Yes, yes, Susie. The global warming has struck you hard. Beautiful shots from which I strongly prefer the second version. No background which distracts the eyes from the beautiful colors and structures of the bud. Excellent!

Seeing your photo of this lilac in early bloom reminds me that I really need to get out soon to the botanical gardens in our area for a little photo expedition.
I can't believe the color and the resolution of the lilac. The focus is outstanding. Excellent DOF.
I agree 100% with Kathy on the additional image your posted. You really have to open it up to see how great the image is. It was worthly of it's own posting.
I think I am going to have to look into this lens as I am in the market for something to cover this range.
Excellent!

OK Susie, now I'm really jealous...first Kathy posts a bit of spring and now you're showing us lilacs starting to bud??? I'm looking at brown and gray everywhere, even the snow has disappeared again! ;) Wonderful color on these little beauties...great DOF and the detail is fantastic. I guess something good came from all that rain...lucky you! Robin

Oh goody...spring has sprung. :) As much as I adore winter scenes I just love seeing this as it means warmer weather is on the way. The DOF iinthis is wonderful. The details and clarity are superb. Lovely vivid colours and a great composition. I like this one better as it shows the entire bud area razor sharp. The 2nd one shows a shallower DOF which is also nice but this one for my tastes. Beautiful photography Susie. Great work.
Cheers - Ann :)

This is very beautifully taken and a real surprise for the viewer, too! I've never seen the beginning of a lilac cluster of flowers! Amazing! In Japan we have flowers blooming all the year round, which I find quite baffling. In my homecountry the seasons used to be quite well settled within their boundaries, so in winter there was nothing, just snow and bare trees. Thank you, dear Susie, for your visits at my site and kind comments. Regards, Gabriela

Okay...this is another one that HAS to be opened in large to appreciate! LOTS of clarity when it's made bigger! Really nice shot! I can't remember which one I told you I like best, but now that you've posted both I might be leaning toward the second one...but I love both of them! Kath
