Very innovative treatment of this image Sally. I appreciate your explanation of how it was done. I don't think I have that much patience, but your result is very good. Thanks for your comment on my balloon picture.

You are quite right! I've always like nice sharp, detailed photos, and I've always tried to make mine so (with varying levels of sucess), so I really struggle with the idea of purposely degrading the photo quality - even when what I'm trying to achieve demands it!

Excellent result, and artistic PS work Thanks for your description, clever idea ! To give this floral an extra "old silver plate" look, I would have tried out some vignetting and a wee bit more contrast, because the old lenses and films had just that look (just an idea) Cheers Carsten

You get a slap on the wrists for that one Colin :) - Val was gone long before my Blue Peter viewing days! I'm more the Janet Ellis and Peter Duncan era!

That was an ingenious explanation for your abstract creation, here, Sally. You obviously watched Val Singleton, on blue peter, as a youngster!
An interesting image - and unique to you, by using your resourceful imagination. 7.

Hi Ciprian I took a piece of black card and spent half the night 'distressing' it (whilst watching telly). Then I scanned it, turned it to B&W, inverted it, selected the 'scratches' with the magic wand and deleted the rest, and then turned it into a brush. I then took my flower photo and stamped it with my new brush - so it looked distressed. Then I increased the canvas size, used the free transform tool to put it on an angle and added the selotape - which is another brush I made - out of a scanned peice of sellotape!

Incredible image Sally,
Here is Why I Like it. The Flower has Great Detail to it, Even with the Wrinkled look. The Way you presented it is out of this world. Looking at it, reminded me of the Photo I carried of my Wife during the 1st gulf war and it had a simaler look about it. I would really like to know how you did this. As I am new to photography and have only been doing it for about 2 months. Congrats on this superb up-load Regards

Wonderful, a real work of art. How do you get to this stage from a normal photograph?

Yes you're quite right! I guess it could be the surface of the photo peeling off the yellowed card at a pinch...

That sellotape (or is it scotch tape? - it has a touch of that scotch opaqeness to it) brush is great. I like the distressed old photo look, but to work perfectly on UF perhaps the background (ie. behind the torn bits) needs to be pure white? AJ
