What a great photo, at first you think the black and white surfaces are too big for the small subject, but when looking again, i just get that sense of balance (and unbalance with the cat looking down) at the same time .. that cat up there is superbly in focus ! The tones are wonderful !
What great and diverse portfolio you have, can just say: wow !!!

Excellent shot! Very minimalist frame.
The strength of this picture is in: i would use the word startegic here, the strategic placement of cat between the three bands....wise that you dimmed any contrast there might have been within the dark background, that cut all the noise there could have been in the background. Both the glow off the fur and inquistive expression are what makes the subject interesting.
At last the foregraound and background hues are complement the skin tones of the cat,which retains the focus on the subject for longer.
A perfect eyecatcher.

Some advices regarding IR shots
there are some good IR photoshop actions,the do the chanel mix and other adjustments,If you wish I can send you a good one
I order to get more colours,play with the hue and saturation levels,not only with the master color,but also with other colours there,in this way you can also reduce the blue cast,an good Idea is to combine several layeres with diferent colours achieved

Beautiful portrait of this cat. And mind: I'm not a cat fan!
I like your square crop, really enhancing the horizontal line and the symmetry in the scene. The cat is really well lit with some gorgeous backlight.

It is the natural background - I darkened it a tiny bit.
The photo is shot from the stairs looking up through the skylight into the attic - which is why it was so dark.
