About Subject background: You see a piece of weird art that I photographed at the MOMA in New York. The cool/funny/strange thing is that there are kind of infinite reflections. just the front side is open, the rest of the box is totally mirrored. so basically you see the whole content of the box within the bottles/glassed mirrored... and mirrored... and mirrored... I spent a hard time taking shots here. Hope you like the outcome. I waited just for the current project to find a way for uploading it =)

So MAYBE if we look into ourselves, we will see the same infinite mirrors as well... our thoughts, our mind, our daily damn business! (DDB!), our memories... the infinite reflections trap. groundhog day in the box. back to the future...

PS concept: essentially toning

Honest feedback highly appreciated

Hi Angelo,

good question ;-)
my guess is that these are special mirrors. but don't ask me about the detail technical analysis =)

as for the cropping: unfortunately, I didn't have my "correct" equipment with me that day, just the small suitcase instead the big one =) so I had to use a lens I wouldn't normally use.

best wishes,

thilo

Good stuff, Thilo. Tell me, how come we don't see you in the reflections, yet at the same time you are all over the picture?

It's all smoke and mirrors, isn't it? Except... there's no smoke...

I like the picture as a whole, but am wondering why you cropped the glass on the right.

Also, I think it is wonderful the MOMA allow photography inside. For some reason, the Tate in London is against it...

This is a truly exciting image, filled with movement, patterns, and ideas. It does what (I think) art is supposed to do. And you also state the concept well in words to top it all off!

Cheers,
--George

This works well Thilo,

At first, you almost don't notice the reflections, and then, you can't stop finding them.

Thilo, i think this is a masterpiec eof 'wierdness'!
I appreciate the difficulty in taking such a shot, especially to not be in the shot yourself! I find it fascninating -- and the light too! 7 from me!

Omar

Hi Thilo...

Like this one a lot... One can be trapped just by trying to view and define every reflection... I like also the perspective very much...

Going into the philosofical side of this pic... We can also say that these are all the choices que can make along our lives and all the infinite possible ways out lives can turn out...

So we are trapped in the infinity... WOW!!! Really strong...

In just few words let me describe what I feel about this one:

I LOVE IT !!!!!

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Into my favorites...

T,
Beautiful interpretation of a really cool subject. The cool toning job goes very well with the subject's refelctions and night-time "aquatic" feel.
cheers,
erik
