You're right, Peter, the whites are the most difficult...they are so easily overexposed.
That's also why the bottom right is a bit dark.

The soft lighting works well Marion. I like the colours and tones you have captured. I think slight noise reduction and high pass sharpening would give the picture an additional lift. Nice work. Regards John

Great work on this flower Marion.. i just think the bottom right of the flower has suffered a bit .. otherwise you got nice soft shadows everywhere, and the white was well exposed for !
