Awesome photo, New Zealand truly is spectacular the mountain silhouette provides an accurate feel for the incredible terrain, of the land of the long white cloud.

Love the crisp steely greys and blues in this, I can see how any number of crops might work but your choice to make the turbulence prominent whilst it might not appeal to a landscape purist does work in increasing the sense of being there for the viewer. I'm quite sure you to took shots every which way in this wonderful location.

Another beautiful natural 'monochrome' with blue accent! :) Peter's suggestion would undoubtably make for a lovely landscape, too, I feel that it would also be a more static scene. The addition of the boat wake adds a wonderful dynamism that really wakes up an otherwise very serene image.

Hi Marion, I read your reply to Peter too, but I wasn't referring to the crop; as I mentioned, I find the squared crop very good. I'm referring to the ratio water : mountains/sky. In other words, panning up a bit...;o) Thanks for your reply!
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Hugo, as I just wrote to Peter, the crop was very intentional (as they are always in my photo's). Thank you for your comment! :)

No no, Peter, the crop was very intentional. I wanted the turbulant water be an important part of the image. I have more pictures of this location and they have a crop in landscape format. But thanks for your comment, it was certainly appreciated. :)

Great mood going on here but I think it would be a little nicer if it was a bit brighter. I also do agree with the crop of the water. Keep up the good work.

Hi Marion, Very dramatic shot. The low whiffs of clouds in front of the high peaks are excellent. Love the curve in the wake of the boat. It's an incredible powerful shot. The square composiiton seems to be a good choice, hard to tell (don't know what you croped off) Peter has a point, placing the horizon lower would create a ominous tranquility an tension to this shot as well as balance the composition better, but including the wake of the boat works for me too. Excellent capture.
Cheers,
Hugo

Great view, what atmosphere .. Although for composition i would choose for landscape format, where i would crop just above the turbulent water .. having the low clouds at the end of the lake makes a very strong plus for the picture !! Still a big 6 for me. Regards, Peter
