City - Kandahar Airfield State - KANDAHAR Country - Afghanistan
About
It was cold, wet and about 2 a.m. when I took this shot. Caption follows: A US Air Force Airman guards the entrance to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan as more than 300 local national prepare to enter the installation, December 28, 2004. The Afghans were traveling to Mecca for the annual Hajj.
certainly gives an immediate sense of place and person, makes me feel like I'm standing there. The plastic sheet - I guess is to keep the damp of the cold ground from penetrating her legs. Given your caption I am wondering what the Afghan pilgrims looked like and were thinking. I'm a Canadian and I do remember that Americans and Canadian service men and women are doing their best for freedome in Afghanistan. Be well, be safe. Thank you, Bill Gibson
Maybe technicallythis shot could be better, but the expesion of the girl's face worth my compliment: some combination of completion to the situation and exhaustion and awaiting to the end of this night.
