hello Tiffany. i think the moment is wonderful --- very cute and I know the moment quite well :)). i am also quite new to fotographing people so perhaps it is important to take this opinion as *novice* at best! i really enjoy seeing space around the subject in portraits. not necessarily empty space and it certainly doesn't mean you cannot get close to the subject and show those beautiful eyes. but it is important to create visual space. the hand here creates a little space for the viewer... gives us a foreground if you will (separation). I also think the foto would be improved by showing a little background as well - further creating space for the viewer. perhaps by inter-weaving the foreground, middle-ground and background you would end up with a stronger foto. ahhhh, i am making no sense, so i will stop there :).
cute moment regardless of my ramblings.

Oh my...how cute is this?? What a face!!! I love this!! I do think I would like to see a lower lighting ratio (less contrasty light). A little fill flash or reflector to bounce some light back to the shadow side would help. Of course this isn't always possible when these moments arise!! I love the extreme wide angle angle. A truly sweet, and wonderful image!!
