Yikes thats a scary story... i have met way to many bears in my travels. One i was nose to nose with in the Queen Charlotes....I didn't stick around to do a photo shoot...LOL. I remember the heart thing very well!

The colours of the water and the landscape which settles around this lake really punches home how beautiful the Rockies really are. You've captured this slice of nature so well... I want to be sitting on the shore enjoying the breeze on the lake and soaking up the sun.
The D70 seems like it's treating you well... my cousin is thinking about getting one... any cons that you've run into?

Very nice capture, Tim. I have a shot from almost exactly the same spot taken in 2002. However, mine was shot close to mid-day, so the lighting is not nearly as good as yours.

My oldest son (5 at the time) and I encountered an aggressive black bear in the brush located between the lake and the road, which is to the left of this photo. Fortunately, it did not attack us. My heart hadn't pounded so hard in years and I've never had an adrenalin rush like it since then. This shot definitely brings back a vivid memory!

Tim this is a awesome image. You have a very good eye for fantastic compositions.
There is much to see in this image in the front layer, then you let your eyes go thru the narrows to view but another beautiful image.
Allot of depth to this image.
Tim I'm adding you to my friends list so that I can keep up with your images, I hope you don't mind.

Beautiful reflection. I think you might have even been able to get other photos of the clouds reflected in the water. The foreground looks really interesting. Nicely balanced exposure.

Hi Stuart,
in the remarks i posted the Ap/Speed.....F14 @ 1/160/sec. I must say that the D70 has an amazing ability to capture both like no camera i have had before. All i do is meter on the sky and then shoot. It seems to manage the dark areas just fine. So hats off to Nikon. Plus if i got a ND filter it would be even easier to do. Have you tried a ND grad filter?

ahhhh its about a day and a half. but i would suggest going to waterton lakes nat. park it is unreal how beautiful it is, plus its on the border (canada/USA). Glacier Nat. Park on the USA side.
This is way closer and just as beautiful. check it out on Google.

Wow.... this is awesome .. everything is great. the exposure and lighting are so perfect. What was the shutter speed and aperture on this one. I am trying to get shots like this but I?m not getting it? I keep getting an overexposed sky ?.
Regards,
Stuart

If you start painting right now, you'll never finish all these great photos you have taken. Man this is another beauty. How far is Jasper from Yellowstone ?
