About One of my favorite portraits of my girls.

The Poem:

Butterfly kisses and sunny day wishes

are what I hope for you.

Unending love, and a blue sky above,

and a heart that forever is true.

A field full of clover that you can run over,

if only in your dreams.

A flower strewn lane, rainbows after the rain,

and a star that always gleams.

A sprinkling dew of a fairy's hue

to softly guide your way.

And a promise kept from someone adept

that really makes your day.

The sound of laughter for ever after,

and joy that never ends.

I hope for these things, the best that life brings,

to be granted to all of my friends.

Sir Chancy

Shane, I don't use filters on the camera anymore. I find I have much more control over the results if I do it digitally. For this shot I used a free download filter from autofx called dreamy. Here is the link to this filter http://www.autofx.com/freeplugins/dreamyphoto.asp?id=7

May I ask what filter you used to take this photo? I think the photo is great!

A great photo to treasure of your daughters! It's just beautiful - the lighting, the soft focus & tones and their obvious affection for eachother.

Thank you Lori!! Actually I'm a stay home mom in the Midwest. I do a little artwork on the side. I started photography to get my own drawing references and now just enjoy it as a hobby all on it's own. My webpage is at http://pencil-n-paper.com The photo area needs an overhaul but I just haven't decided on how to organize it yet! :)

Deanna, that's so cool to hear how you found this and that you take time to search for my posts! Wow, thanks! Also, you have received some wonderful comments on this picture here, huh? I like it because it's a little more critical sometimes than BP, but that's what we need to grow. I'm glad you found it! Talk to you soon!

Hi Deanna ..... All is not lost .... you can still have your soft light. Some how .. find some " rice paper" .. or very .. very .. sheer material. Drape it over the glass doors (white).Budda bing .... soft light. Good luck.

~~~~~~~~~ Best ... Bill
Thank you for the welcome Bill! The lighting in this photo is the only thing I am going to miss about winter! This was taken on a sunny winter morning next to some large south facing glass doors. The snow just does wonderful things to light. Now that same area is full of harsh light and shadows most the time. I'm going to have to learn some new lighting tricks!!
Deanna .... Welcome. Have to tell you .. For your first post .... you have hit one out of the ball park. A stunning photograph of the innocence... playfullness .. and charm between two beautiful children. The lighting and softness is perfect. It's what we used to call ..and maybe still do ..warm and fuzzy.
Bravo ..and congrats.
~~~~~~~~~~ Best to You ..... Bill

Deanna, Welcome to Usefilm... By the looks of things here, you'll be popular anong us portrait shooters. I gave a 7, because there wasn't a 6 1/2. I love the pose, love the softness, love the background, love the mood and feeling captured, love it, love it, love it! Only one small "nit-pik" (and reason for the 6 1/2) is the sweetie on the right is "shadowing" the other sweetie. This could have been eliminated by a tiny, tiny bit of reflectance or moving the right-hand sweetie off-plane to remove her shadow. Can you dig it? Regards, Rik
