Tom, a brilliant photo! I LOVE the perfect center of it. Colors are great also. I wouldn't change one thing! Have you tried the 12-24 Nikon DX lens? WOW!
Sorry I have disappeared. School all the time. I hope I am a better photographer when this is over.
Back to the photos. You are really showing your wide range of creativity and a great eye with your postings. I am very impressed.
Hope all is well and the vertigo attack was a short one!

Tom, this is a fantastic photo. Good composition and light is great. About the vertigo, well my mom suffers of the same as your wife and think would the same, but also would be intersting to see hoe my mom does in the same situation.
Congrats!!,
Raamses.

hey hugo, no need to reply right away. i know you have your hands full for next few days ;^) again, congrats, very impressive 6/8!! VERY well deserved my friend.
actually no EV compensation on this one ;^) i moved the camera in landscape format down the column in front until i could not see much of the sky and matrix metered that (right about the darker spot above the lamps). locked the exposure, recomposed and released the shutter. also used "shade" white balance instead of "cloudy". all this gave the same feel as +0.5EV or so. what do you think?
regarding my subjects: i shoots what i sees. why constrain yourself by your subject matter? ;^)
freaky abstracts?? how'd you guess? ;^) freaky abstract coming up.....

Hi Tom,
In this case the centered and symmetrical composition is a very good choice. Very well exposed too; a + something EV, I expect ;o)...? I enjoy the rigidity and use of geometric patterns, it creates a very strong image. With only a little tonal change, this could be taken right off the next Star Wars film. Although the shot is very well exposed, no (evident) burned spots nor washed out shadows, I think a bit of saturation might make it more lively. Nice variation of subjects, from the organic rocks, to a cowboy bar, and now a geometrical, human and lifeless structure to very emotional shots. What's next? Outright freaky abstracts )...? Can't wait!
I only suffer from vertigo when I would've been looking down...;o)
Cheers,
Hugo
