About Another shot at using a scanner as a camera. I converted it to black and white and tweaked the brightness and contrast using Paint Shop Pro.

LOL... that's way too funny. I always liked this little self-scanner-portrait but I didn't think it deserved that kind of praise. :-] ... Anyway - thank you for your comments. Like you I always log on into my public portfolio so I never see the home page. If you hadn't said something I never would have known.

Cheers, as always,

Jon

JON! Congrats! I am still in New Mexico, sitting on my air force son's computer. I logged on and it went to home page (I usually go straight to my portfolio) and look who I see! Congrats man!! I toast an MGD to ya (Actually a Corona)... good job!

Thanks, Opal. When I looked at this I thought of an ancient spirit, bound by dark magic into the depths of an enchanted mirror.

This a very interesting photo,Jon. Are you trying to hide from the world or are you trying to sneek up on it. Any way this is a good photo with alot of perspective. Its like you want us to reach down deep into your soul and see what makes you tick. GOOD Photo.....................Opal

hello Jon ;-)
I found your photo as I was browsing the 'pictures of our members' project.Earlier today I uploaded a self-portrait of mine taken using my flatbed, but I was almost touching the glass so my face isn't so dark as yours.I think the original scan is more interesting than your second cropped version because the hands are a very powerful element of the image.
regards,Kostas

Thank you for your kind comments. Part of what I am trying to do is teach myself to "see" image creating opportunities, which I suspect is part of what differentiates a photographer from a person taking snapshots at Christmas. I tried cropping in closer on this, with the below result.

My, what a big aperture you have! You are really getting into scanner art :-) I am surprised to see that the depth of field is so large in the scanner. Interesting result anyhow.
