Sorry, Ivan. I still view this site as a learning experience, and if someone votes a one or a two about a picture of mine or anybody else, I want to know why. The rating system should be based on technique as well as subject. If it's that low, it means it is an uninteresting picture AND it has technical flaws. I want to know what the technical flaws are at the very least, so I can learn what needs to be improved. If it's merely subject, then that means it's an average photo and should get at least a three or four. A rating based on personal preference only degrades the rating system to a personality contest, and who learns from that?

Sue, voting low is the same as leaving a comment "I do not like, I think it is not interesting" but anonymously. It is just a different form of feedback. Not voting at all is the same. If you have views but no one care to vote ? something to think of.
Now about the image: I think it is scary and creative. More I look at it more details I see more I like it. 10 +

Yeah, some guys head floating in formaldehyde-creepy! Your'e gonna give me nightmares. I'm with Chris and Sue here. I don't get this voting thing either. A rating without a comment seems somewhat counterproductive and open to abuse of the system. There, I just voted. Hopefully it raises the average of this fine effort!

Thank you all for your comments. What I tried to do with this photo is sum up those irrational fears of childhood. This is the man who lives under the bed when the lights are out, the man who taps on the window on a stormy night.
The effect on the face was achieved by putting a ladys stocking on the models head (rather like a bank robber) and then slowly pulling it off, this distorts the features of the face.
I then added some radial blur in photoshop and also used the plastic wrap filter to make the skin look leathery.
I think the best place for this photo is under the bed but dont turn the lights off ! ;-)

Voting that low and not commenting makes the vote null and void, by my thinking.
This is a scary, scary image, and although I would never have the vision to make a photo like this (or inclination), I appreciate that there's a bit of skill involved to elicit that much impact! Good job.
I'm with Sylvain and a touch further. I wouldn't even hang it in my basement! Way too frightening for me.
But effective! :-)

This is both beautiful and scary at the same time. I would never hang that in my bedroom! Creative.

I don't get the voting here. Two votes and both 1. Not a word why... I find this very interesting and moody. Is the blurr photoshopped?
