I have had the same concerns with the focusing, but I think I just need more practice with it. I've also noticed the noise issue. I kind of like the different aspect ratio.

Basically, I need to really go out and play with all of the controls and get to know them better! I like the size and lightness of the camera.

Good luck!

Hi, Mary - thanks very much. I quite like it, although I have to admit that the lack of a focussing scale on the lenses and of a focussing prism thingy (the split line you see through the viewfinder) makes me annoyingly dependent on the not-always-reliable autofocus. Plus I discovered that it doesn't shoot at a 1.5:1 ratio (for 4x6 prints) but at a 1.33:1 (same as a computer screen) which makes it tough to bulk print photographs.

I found that a weakness with digital generally (apparently) is how much noise there is on long exposures, even with the noise reduction.

I sure sound like I'm complainng a lot, don't I? I quite like it - really I do. I'd better, I won't be buying another one any time soon!

Cheers,

Jon

Very nice! How do you like your E500? I haven't tried any night shots like this with mine.

Very nice Jon,
I remember doing some of these with slides, Tripod mounted, 5 or 10 second exposures of ferris wheels at the CNE. Time exposures are always very interesting.
