Dirk - I just got the 4490 on Saturday, am I'm still trying out different settings. I just ordered a few 11x14 test images. I got a few quick 4x6's made at the market and they looked great. I don't have a printer, but I've been using MyPhotoPipe.com for my digital prints. I had to use my darkroom last week for the first time in six months. I had to mix chemicals and fight with leaky plumbing just for two prints. That's when I decided to get a film scanner. I have 20 years of old negatives that I would like to revisit and try some new things. I colored a b&w portrait today and I'll post it tonight. Also, there's another version of the above photo one page 2 of my portfolio that was scanned from a print. I think this one is superior.

Hi Phillip For most of those skim shots, I was standing right at the edge of the water, and sometimes in it. The old B&W shots were mostly taken with a 100mm on an Olympus OM. The newer color ones were taken with a 70-300 zoom at about 150mm. These kids skim right at the water's edge in just inches of water, so you don't need a long lens. They were all made in Laguna Beach and South Laguna.

Hi Ed,
Love your stuff. Always great images. I went to your website and looked around at your surf and skim board pictures. Was wondering if you were up on a pier while shooting them or if the beach area was elevated, many of them look like you are shooting down on them. Also what beach were those taken at? You are inspiring me to get the old 300mm out of mothballs and catch some rays.

This is really strong... I love the intense expression on the boy's face.
