When shooting wildlife I usually hand hold the camera. My 70-300 has image stabilization which helps. I find I usually don't have time to position a tripod. Since you seem to often be focusing on a nest or a branch where the bird is or you expect it to be, you may very well have time to set up a tripod. I have used a monopod with some success when shooting birds around a feeder. I've looked at those Bush Hawks before and wondered how useful they might be. I'd like to try one out sometime.

Thanks very much Jacques. My wife and I visit Montreal fairly frequently as my son and his wife live there. That's them in the picture. We have tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil in Montreal in May. We should try to get together then.

Hi Joe, A very attactive old building indeed, nice that its a museum now at least it will be preserved. 7++++++++++ Sylvia PS What is happening, the photos just don't seem to be getting views anymore or comments, there are plenty of people on line most of the time but no one seems to be viewing the photos..strange!!!
