Hi Alicia,
We still have lots of snow and ice. Although winter was late coming, once it came, it has consistently been below zero C with out any thawing. The ice on the lake is over 700mm thick. There are lots of ice fishing huts on the lake, as you can see in the image, the ice surface is used as highway for people on snowmobiles, there are rinks on the lake for skating and people lands airplanes on the ice. Lots of winter activities.

Thanks Dave for your detailed comments, I feel the shadow sort of grounds this image or gives it relevance. Without it, the shot would look like it was taken from a position floating somewhere in the air.

I'm glad you reposted this one too, Joe! I like the bright colours of the planes against the snow, and the shadow of the bridge mimics their shape, adding a lot of interest to the shot. An interesting shot too, for our friends in warmer countries who would never see a scene like this otherwise!
