Michele: yes, I did consider a tighter crop, but felt it left the head too close to the edge. But I would prefer to have less of that greeny-grey background. The original idea was to have other flamingo feathers blurred in the background, but the few birds that had ventured out didn't oblige with their positioning. I hope to go back and try again soon.

Wonderful detail AJ ... lovely position and crop.. How about if the crop on the left side was a bit tighter ? Does it look out of balence ? Just a thought. Other-wise grey day or not I think this is very well done and a beautiful bird !

Hi AJ, A nice shot of a beautiful bird. To achieve the soft pink background you mentioned you will probably need to change your shooting angle so that the other birds fill the background. Not easy when working at long distances in a zoo. I've answered your query on my pelican picture and also uploaded the original image with my reply. Hope this helps. Cheers, Ann.
