That's a fine macro of the wasp. And it does stand out really well against the pink.
Too much rose? Well, my first thought was that you had uploaded a pano, but it seems the image is just not quite wide enough. So it might be fun to have a bit MORE rose, flip the image so that the wasp was on the right, and have viewers (or at least donors) pan across to find the wasp.
If that's too silly, how about a square crop with the wasp offset towards one corner?
Not that there's anything wrong with the current crop, but I can see your Mum's point.

Definitely not too much rose. I know the wasp is the subject here, but the watermelon richness of the flower is delicious!
