Actually I managed this in two shots only. The drips were coming down pretty quickly, which helped. Like many things, a bit of good luck made all the difference.
Thanks, eh,
Jon

Great timing to catch this drip from the melting icicle. Lovely colour and amazing details. Were you just fortunate with your timing, or did you shoot a few in order to get the drop far enough away from the ice to have become spherical, and yet close enough so that we see the source? Wonderful photo.

Thanks, Eb - I was trying for a 3D look to the frame rather than a shadow box specifically!

Jon, The multiple shot feature can take all the skill and chance out of that for you! Andre

Well there... and here I am considering joining the Digital Revolution. With this one I set my focus on the end of the icicle and fired it at what I hoped was exactly the right minute.... and got it right, as you see, but I fear that kind of timing is mostly a matter of chance.

Hi Jon, Sometimes I hate my Auto-focus Auto exposure settings on my Fuji. It only takes about a second and a half. But when you are in a lot of situations that need fast reactions, that second and a half might as well be ten seconds. I was trying to take some shots of these little birds called Kinglets the other day. It was hopeless. They moved around from one place to the next about every 3 seconds. By the time you find the bird in the viewfinder, he is getting ready to take off. Very frustrating. I would have been better of with my old manual camera. At least there is no lag in the manual focus except my own hands. Andre

Thanks, Joao - I have to admit that the timing was as much a matter of luck as anything else.
