Thanks Andrzej, I'm really starting to like the composition in this one much more myself. I'm glad I went with those darker tones on this one too. Andre

Andre, this is great crop and a neat composition of the frame, I like the chick of cause but all other elements seems to play well to complement the portrait of the black capped. Great background to highlight the birdie. Cheers, n.j

Hi Thilo, I'm glad you mentioned the space in front of the bird. Sometimes I think the image might have looked better if the bird's head was turned towards me. But, if you look at the composition with that nice blurred open space in front of the bird's beak, I think he is in s perfect pose for the image. We can imagine him disappearing into that open space in the next two seconds :) Thanks for making me see this is better than I originally thought :) Andre

Hi Rashed, I originally bought the Fuji S5000 to get used to the digital process. I am really quite pleased with the results that I am getting with it, considering it is not even a DSLR. It does a lot of things quite well. I always seem to do a little work afterwards in Photoshop to get what I want. But that's okay because I wanted to learn how to use Photoshop as well. Someday soon I hope to get myself a DSLR. probably a Nikon D70s. Andre

Thanks Ina, Yes, it was very windy that day. Even when we were kind of sheltered by the woods. The Chickadees seemed more comfortable in the air than on perches that day. The trick with these guys is to make sure you are prepared for them. You have to watch their habits. Where they land and how long they stay. For every shot like this one I'll bet I get 8 or 9 with half a blurry bird in it :) Andre Andre

Hi Andre,
nice work here... I like the space the bird has to look and to fly.

Great chickadee shot, Andre, these guys never stand still! I like the subtle colors and the ruffled feathers, it must have been windy! Great composition! Best regards, Ina

Hi Janet, That's what I thought too, about the softeness. There is something about those folded wings that just looks right that way :) I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees it that way. Andre

Thanks Gregory, I had posted a shot earlier with two versions. One quite strong saturated colour and the other in B&W. I was aiming for somewhre in-between with this one. Andre

Thanks Susie, It would have been nice if the little guy had the decency to turn his head towards me a little more, but sometimes they just won't cooperate :) We were the only ones walking around there that day and the Chickadees were following us around, practically begging for food. Unfortunately we didn't bring any that day. I was really looking for owls. Andre

Thanks Dave, It is actually very muted, desaturated colour though. Almost B&W , but not quite :) Andre

You guessed it Fadel! The desaturated version is actually quite close to what it really looks like there. Even the bird's colours are quite natural like this. Those two dark trees in the middle of the frame originally had a bright green hue running down the full length of them that was very distracting, and not really pleasing to the eye. Andre

Hi Andre, I agree it's a bit soft, but it still made me smile. I love these cheeky little guys. We are big bird feeders and the chickadees are among my favorites. I do like your composition very much. Susie

Very nice shot Andre, love the DOF and the very sublte colors. I guess if it was more saturated, the background would have been more distracting. Beautiful work!
