About I've always tended to shy away from taking portraits, I think I've always been more self concious of the camera than the subject. My son (the Little Dude, in the picture) is a very difficult subject because as soon as you point a lens at him he either hides or pulls ridiculous faces. This is possibly one of the most rare occassions where he sat still for more than 5 seconds. I shot the picture in the living room with a combination of tungston light bulbs and flash bounced from the ceiling. I desaturated the picture, burnt out the background, and applied a very mild sepia effect.

The tones are amazingly soft on this. I hope this portrait makes you realize that you have a good eye for portraits. Great job.

Very nice portrait. I have the same problem with my husband with the faces. I hope this wonderful shot inspires you to take more portraits. BTW - you did a wonderful job on cleaning up the lighting, I know how difficult it can sometimes be. Everything looks so natural.

Regards,
Carla
