City - York State - NORTH YORKSHIRE Country - United Kingdom
About
On Tuesday 9th November 2004 some of us Usefilm members got together in York for an evening of food, beer, and the odd photo. This was my first attempt at shooting in a city at night and found the session both demanding and rewarding. It makes all the difference to share techniques and learn from others. I'm afraid I'll have to profess my ignorance as I don't know the name of the building just that it's in the same square where Cliffords Tower is located.
Just back from Brussels so am catching up whilst my 6*256meg of photos dribble off the CF cards.
This shot is a stunner - I didn't come close to having this many stars on any of my shots. Steve's right about the colurs too - really stands out.
As for the next meet - if we didn't frighten you off that is - I try to get out with Dav at each tuesday night after work, then any mixture of the others come along if they get chance.
I reckon we'll see more of Mac as he just got a bargain 10D off Ebay and Dav will have his 20D before December we're hoping. Dean was off ill but usually makes it once a fortnight.
Oh - we don't usually spend that much time in the pub, usually out shooting most of the time till about 9 then off to Whitelocks where the bar maid, Rosie, does a quiz. That's when we drink!!
I was a bit tipsy before I took the first shot in York so the output from that night may be a bit limited.....
As for the flash... if I use it in full manual mode, it's fine, but to be honest, if you've got TTL flash metering, I want to use it! I stand there typing in the focal length, then some other control thingy to stop things burning out.
Did yours work better without the flash upgrade?
Anyway - rambling here!!
See you next tuesday or maybe for a weekend afternoon - mentioned the Sculpture park to Steve and he seemed up for it.
