About
I could not help but wonder "Pete The Pelican" thought as he watched..first one boat head out to sea...only for another to return....Hmmm, these human folk sure are a busy and restless species!!!
I like this a lot more than #6, as I felt as though the boat in that picture was moving in the wrong direction for the photo. If that makes any sense at all. I realise that you are not in control of the direction the boats travel, but felt it affected the flow of the picture. This one however I feel works very well.
As for the signpost, with its bright colors, I thought it might seem out of place, and yet, somehow it adds to the picture as a whole.
What I like about this photo are the multiple points of interest - the pelican, the signpost and the boat - and yet each belongs in its own part of the scene. The result is a captivating and yet uncluttered scene (which is even a bigger feat in a vertically shot photo, IMHO).
The colours are wonderful (the red sign is a great contrast) and the exposure is perfect. I'm quite jealous of that actually, as I find the combination of water, rocks and sky really difficult to nail. I'd perhaps tilt the photo a bit to straighten the horizon or maybe crop a little from the bottom of the shot, but these are minor concerns. Great job!
P.S. - I like your bio and appreciate your Wordsworthian attitude towards photography. I often get wrapped up in the technical aspects of it, but at the core, it's why I take photos too.
