Thanks Stan.
I was pleased with this one. They don't stick around long this close, so you have to be prepared with the camera.

Thanks Guido,
They are great looking birds that we take for granted in this area because they are quite common. One thing about them is they don't stay still for long. You have to be ready for a few quick shots and they are away in less than two seconds. This one is at a feeder in a conservation area, so he is a little more used to people being around. They are still shy though.

Thanks Rina,
I think this might be one of my better bird images lately. These guys are very common in this area. Hard to get them to stand still for long though.

Beautiful dappled light and the bokeh is wonderful. I think it's the soft pastel palette that really makes this. Excellent.

Thanks Ken,
I appreciate the visit and comment.
I think that sort of soft look with feathers is a bit of a trait of that 18-200 vr Nikon lens.
I agree with you when you say it has a soft look, yet still sharp. Somehow the two don't go together, yet how else can you describe it? I do like the look of this one myself, but I'm still learning how to shoot feathers properly. I notice a lot of bird photographers are using very fast shutter speeds and higher ISO numbers, possibly to aid sharpness. Any help or suggestions are always appreciated.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the great review of this image Ray.
This is by far the most common Jay in this part of Canada. I'm learning from others here how important the eye contact is with birds for a good image.

Awesome details captured here my dear Andre. The tones in the wing feathers and upon the head are gorgeous and you have retained such excellent detailing in the white of the underbody plumage. The dof is superb and the eye contact fantastic. It is great to see these colours in your jay which are completely different to the variety over here my friend. Great stuff Andre and a pleasure to view. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray
