I've shown it to friends or family, and some just can't see it until I point it out to them.

Thanks -- I am well, Paul -- but hardly ever home. Been travelling too much. Hope to be around for at least another three to four weeks at home.

Funny thing is this shoot had 4 models in studio, and when I tried the same shot, same spot with Kaley, it wasn't nearly as strong, as Destiny has such prominent almond-shaped eyes.

Hope you're well, Jan.

well now THAT is a nice excpression Paul, I love that 'surprice' on her eyes and mouth! Amazing, well focused portrait (first eye) and with good rich lighting too... excellent...

LOL.
Barbara, I asked Destiny to look surprised.

The mark of the shot is the exclamation, which I created using two studio strobes about 10 feet away from her. ;)

Well, NJ, I was pondering how the difference between a circular and rectangular soft-box is merely the shape of the reflection; it doesn't affect the light at all.

Then, I started thinking that my giant soft-box is a 5-by-3 foot rectangle. I wondered what would happen if I placed it high, and then put my round brolly box beneath. This photo is my first attempt to flesh out the idea.

Fantastic catch lights in her eyes add to the picture expression and really strengthen the facial mood of the surprise here. Interesting idea Paul but tells us about the lighting setup you are using in the shot. Cheers, NJ

Tis way too clever for a simple soul like me
However I struggle to see the itty bitty thing as the subject rather than the girl.
Amazing though and all sorts of admiration as to how the heck you did it!

Gabrielle,
The subject of this shot is not Destiny, but the catch-light. Look again.

I'm really happy with the Sigma lens, Rob.
My only handicap is that I have shot for SO long with my Canon 17-85 that the 28mm length of this Sigma causes me to keep backing up in the studio.

It is very crisp at 2.8, although not quite as fast to focus as the 17-85, it's still a tremendous bargain at ~ $370.

What did you do to make her look so shocked?
It worked very well anyway Paul!
