The tighter crop does look neater. An amazing shot just got even better. Now if only you could crop out the guy with the compact ;)

Congrats Jon!
I'm glad to see this worked out for you! Staff Choice Award, can't be bad!
Now we're even. You suggested a crop for one of my images that I felt made a huge difference. "Misty Morning Fog".

Hi, Andre - yes, someone else also suggested a tighter crop, and you were both right as it is definitely the better of the two images. I wasn't sure if the blurry figures in the foreground would carry enough weight to keep the viewer's attention away from the brightly lit front of the church, but actually it seems - as you have pointed out - that the eye actually wants to move back and forth, staying in the frame but developing a bit of dynamic tension at the same time. I think the whole blurred-figure in long-exposure thing might be worth a bit more exploration.

Cheers,

Jon

Thank you, Philip - I am certainly getting some mileage out of Montreal's beautiful cathedral. The Staff Choice is also very nice! Someone at UF has a thing for churches :-] ... But seriously - I am pleased. Thanks again for your very kind comments.

Hi Jon,
Well you know I'm going to like it :)

Our eyes want to head up to the alter, but we have to keep sneaking a peek back to the "ghostly figure"
I believe another viewer of your last post suggested a similar crop too.
