About Good morning Weathercock! How d?ye fare last night?
Did the cold wind bite you, did you face up to the fright?
When the leaves spin from October and whip around your tail!
Did you shake from the blast and did you shiver through the gale?

Give us direction, the best of good will, put us in touch with your fair winds, sing to us softly, hum evening song, tell us what the blacksmith has done for you.

Do you simply reflect changes in the patterns of the sky?
Or is it true to say, the weather heeds the twinkle in your eye?
Do you fight the rush of winter and hold snowflakes at bay?
Do you lift the dawn sun from the fields and help him on his way?

Good morning Weathercock make this day bright, put us in touch with your fair winds, sing to us softly hum evening song, - point the way to better days we can share with you!

Ian Anderson , ?Weathercock?. From Jethro Tull?s, ?Heavy Horses?, album.

Wooler church weathercock. Taken with maximum zoom, at 72mm (equivalent 432mm).

I seem to be going through a minimalist phase (actually have been for decades it seems), and this image really appeals to me. I love the symmetry in your composition, and the layering of colour in the sky. Jethro Tull is all well and good, but do you remember "Blodwyn Pig"????

I really like that one Colin, so coloured. It's like a good smiling morning, pushed by a royal cock on its trone. Singing get up, there's a rising day ahead, another good one....

Regards
Claude

It's my favourite also, Roger. Thanks for putting this one in yours, a fine compliment. I was inspired to create this by Ian Anderson's imaginative lyrics.

The latest technology, allows a compact camera to have a zoom of 432mm! with built in stabilizer, this allows quality images, that can surpass the lowly 5mp level of the ccd.

It may tempt you away from your film!

You're really having fun with that new camera, Colin, making it work for you. This is a wonderful picture... the sky is truly gorgeous, and the Jethro Tull lyric is great. Straight to my favourites!

Great weathercock silhouette - and a good choice of 'poem' (which, Jethro Tull or not, is totally new to me!).

The 'chalk drawing', is a simple Wooler sunset, layered behind the weathercock of St Mary's, Wooler church. I appreciated your fine comment, Dave, thank you.

Colin,

What a lovely 'poem' and a nice image to go with.

Weathercock will hold you in special esteem for this.
He will show you the way everyday, day in and day out.
He will sing softly in your ears the hum of the evening song,
He will point the way to better days -
day in and day out.

Nice one.

regards,
ken.
