Thanks Stephen, When I put this one together, I was kind of copying another photographer on this site named Janette Haglund, I believe. All just a fun experiment. PS It's nice when someone new comes into the site and takes the time to explore people's portfolios like you have. Welcome to Usefilm. Andre

Thanks for visiting K,
The idea for this one was kind of "borrowed" from one of Jeanette Hagglund's earlier award winners. I was happy with my result never the less!

Thanks Alastair,
I had a lot of fun doing these "straight from the scanner" images.
Your right, the Ents from LOTR immediately comes to mind in a lot of people.

Great composite image.... I can hear Treebeard now....
Great colours and detail in the bark and an excellent job of overlaying the face. Well done...

Thanks Toni, I joke that my portfolio is becoming a gallery of rip-offs ;) BTW the bio photo this week is the 1975 model. Andre

K...my first thought before reading your "about" was how I'd like to rip this off too! It's great. Very storybookish. Well done. BTW, I just noticed your photo in your profile. It's so nice to see your face! Nice face! Antonia

Fadel, I might just be all creeped out for the time being. :) These seemed to go over well though. Maybe I'll quit while I'm ahead. There are still a lot of cute squirrels out there to photograph. Andre

Hi Thilo, Yes it was another one of my blatent rip-offs :) At least I sent Jeanette a link and an apology. I guess that's why she replied first. Tolkien meets David Lynch? Very Entish! Andre

Hi James, Are you trying to tell me my face is craggy looking? :) I didn't realize the bark matched up so well under the eyes, giving a real creepy, large bags under the eye look. That part wasn't intentional, but it seems to work. Thanks for visiting. Andre

Hi Jeanette,
I'm glad you liked what I did. This one was made in Photoshop combinig a digital image from a photo of pine bark and my own face scanned directly from the scanner to file. I fooled around with the levels and tones a bit before I merged them and then re-did the levels and tones again after they were merged. I used to like doing this sort of thing in the darkroom too. I used to sandwich negatives together and print them. Or sometimes use one, two or three negatives on the same print by masking areas of the paper. I'm really liking the versatility of digital right now. It gives me so many combination options. Thanks again Andre

I like it - it is a good "ghost" - not too much detail, but still clear signals as to what is going on.

Eerie and surreal image. It is a very good effect the contours on the bark seem to match the face, I imagine you did this on purpose but it is very clever.
Thanks
