This model donated her time during a portrait class taught by Tom & Pat Cory. For some reason I had my camera on ISO 400 so this shot isn\'t as clear as I would like. I\'m going to have to write a list of things to check before I start shooting and then check each item off. Great subject and a wonderful setting (although not necessarily in this shot).
I don?t think the pose of her leaning on the tree works well here although it is very relaxed. I think I would have here leaning on the side of the tree then shoot it so that only part of the tree is in the shot. I also think you need some fill lighting here as well; her face is very dark compared to the rest of the shot. If your going to do more portraits then get yourself a collapsible reflector (42? would be best) and use that to help direct the light. Also you can add some fill flash to help balance out the overall lighting. I just recently did a portrait shoot outside and even though my model was in bright sunshine I still used some fill lighting to smooth things out.
Pretty good but the back lighting has overwhelmed the subject so her face is dark and blended into the tree. Did you try some fill flash? Good portrait lighting on a sunny day is very difficult.
