Thanks Biljana, This is one of my personal favourites from last year. I think it might be one of my best. There is something magical about fog and mist in images :) Andre

Thanks again Giuseppe, I'm glad you see this image that way. I think there is a lot of beauty in shadowy places like this. It sometimes seems a bit more interesting when you have to spend a little time viewing an image to "feel" it. Andre

Thanks Partha, I think the cropping suggestion by Jon helped to bring this one to life. The original is okay, but I think this one is far better now. Andre

Its excellent mood. Not all photographs have the essence like this one. The mist gives life in it. Wonderful shot:) :)

Hi Ray, Nice to see you back commenting, if only for a while :) I understand completely about the lack of time. These types of groups can become somewhat consuming. I seem to be cutting back myself in the posting and commenting. Not for lack of interest, but for lack of time. Thanks for taking your time to write such a nice review on this image. Hope to see some posts from you soon too. Andre

Hi to my good friend Andre....I have returned, albeit in a much reduced capacity. I will spend less time on the site as I allowed myself to get swallowed up by commenting and got so little else done in my life.
This is a gorgeous composition my friend. There is drama, mystery, moodiness and a great dreamy atmosphere all wrapped up in the components of the shot. It is a worthy entry into the project as it evokes great feelings of peace and tranquility. The mist rising from the surface of the lake is just awesome Andre. This second and improved posting was well worth the effort of thoughtful cropping, well done to you dear friend. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray:)

Hi Chris, Thanks for visiting and for commenting on this image. With positive reviews like the one you gave this image, you can come back any time you like:)
I like the very subtle effect of the mist in this one too. As you say, there is almost a slight hint of movement. Probably only because of our experiences seeing this kind of fog in real time. I'm glad it works that way in people's minds. Thanks again. Andre

Hi Toshi, It's not very often that I change an image on a suggestion. (Just plain stubborn I guess) But this time, the positive difference was so obvious, even I couldn't ignore it :) Andre

Van's the Man, so already you had me there but the picture is just excellent. That light morning fog is often so hard to capture yet you have done so almost perfectly as it almost feels whispery and you can sense its movement with the slightest breeze. The composition, the lighting, the colours, just all round great, well done.

The crop works out really well on this - it enhances the atmosphere from the fog and keeps the eye focused throughout the image whereas the previous crop, the top was a bit distracting. This shows how much impact a simple crop can have on an image.

Hi James, I would prefer if the thumbs were three times larger than they are. I think people would still open them to a larger size if they were interested. Andre

I like everything about this. There are beautiful contrasts between dark and light which make one's eye notice and appreciate each. There is no part that is meaningless, not adding to the mood and atmosphere. I love the multidirectional gentle sense of motion. Superb shot. MAry

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to create our own thumbnails. That way we would be able to lighten the thumbs for better interest. I have a couple of images where it's pretty clear this problem exists. Oh, well. So it goes.

Hi Kes, If my memory serves me, I don't think I was able to get much detail out of that rock. It is pretty much back / side lighted. (mostly back) You are right though, Just a slight bit of detail in there would take away the two dimensional look of it. Andre

Hi Andre, very nice, much improved! The highlight reflections in the ripples of water balance out that darker area nicely.
Is there any way you could dodge (hope that is the correct way to go, I always get dodge/burn mixed up) that black rock and get some detail? My eye goes straight for it. I think the rock is good for the composition...and it could be that there is detail there and I just don't see it on my old monitor.
Cheers, Kes

Thanks Andrzej, I feel like I'm almost cheating by putting this one up twice :) You're right about the sky competing for attention in the other post. This one seems more balanced now I think.
There is nothing worse than thinking you have a few good shots and it turns out that they are ruined for some reason. I suppose there is a pretty big learning curve with the S3pro. You seemed to do okay with it with some of the images that I've seen from your trip. Andre

Thanks for the nice comment and support for this image James! As you say, a few may find it dark. For this reason, I think a lot of pretty fine images go unopened from the thumbnails. I don't think this one shows particularly well in the thumbs, but, as you say when viewing it for a little while in full size, the details unfold for you. Thanks again. Andre

Andre, it was realy great advice from John, the crop is now very focused on the lake and the mist, the bright lighted parts do not compete with white skies any more. I'm just back from the area, weather was OK, I'm pissed off on myself however for the reason screwing up unbelivable opportunities for great pictures just because I did not checked my settings on my camara before. Have to learn DSLRs better as I'm still taking it hard way. Cheers, NJ

I like it. I went and had a look at the original and I cannot agree more. The crop really lifts a weight from the image and increases the sense of drama in the scene. I think even the changed aspect ration is an improvement.
It's a fine shot and will be a hearty contender in this month's project.
Some might say the overall photograph is too dark, but (and this will very apparent if you see my collection) I don't mind it being a bit dark. The detail is there if one looks for it.
I wish you well. See you around.
