Hi Andre, haven't stopped by in a while. No more goat on a couch photo? I like this image, but it does remind me of escargot, which in the Philippine is also a delicacy. But I do prefer this over the other one with the strawberry. Very sharp macro shot!

Thanks Phillip, As I told a few others, it isn't a completely original idea. I saw one once with a snail and a razor blade, so I thought I would try this. Andre

Thanks Fadel, That is the kind of reaction I was hoping this image would get. So, I guess it was a success. Not really completely my idea though. I saw one once with a snail crawling on a razor blade. Also unharmed :) Andre

Excellent image Andre, makes me shiver seeing this delicate creature putting its head on the edge of the knife! Great idea and perfect title!

Thanks Hugo, I sort of copied this from one that I had seen a few years ago of a snail crawling over a razor blade. So, I can't take full credit for the vision. I think it turned out fairly well with that type of knife though. That snail might not have much of a brain, but he knew enough not to go any further :)
ps Bad luck in the game yesterday against Portugal :( I was at a birthday party yesterday. My Niece's husband is from Netherlands and he had his parents over here in Canada for a visit. They had just come from watching the end of the game and it took them all quite a while to get in a good party mood. Andre

Hi Andre,
I like your dark mind - very creative, and a very strong metaphorical contrast between the soft, slimy tissue of the snail and the sharp, rigid structure of the steel - Very creative photo, well done!
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks Thilo, Sometimes I just want to post images that keep the viewer a little off balance. ( I remember you giving a similar explanation about some of your images, so I know that you know how I feel. ) Obviously, it would be easy to get much crazier, but I think the effect is stronger in the long run when we hold back a little. Hi Andre,
LOL on the about! =)
Well, it seems you are striving for the special and provoking subjects. And I think you do a damn fine job. What a great idea. Living on the edge. That's what we all do.
best wishes, Thilo

Hi Marcus, No, I didn't pan fast :).. An extremely slow shutter speed could have been used :) This guy's top speed was about one foot every ten minutes. He was always on the move though. I couldn't get him to sit still :) I've been doing fine, except for a slight back strain playing hockey last week. Andre

Thanks Toshi, I had seen something similar before... I guess the scene creates some tension and contrast in the viewer's mind that gets a reaction. Sort of like fingernails on a chalkboard. Andre

I am so pleased and relieved that you resisted all temptations in this instance my dear friend. Beautiful subtle tones and great focus on the shell (there's nothing pretty about a snail's face anyway). The reflection is wonderful and to all intents and purposes he/she is busy admiring that image. Well done to you Andre, a great capture......My very best wishes to you as always....Ray

I guess that answers my question... you did get to this one. That was as far as the snail got! He might be brainless, but he wasn't stupid :) He seemed to instinctively hold back when he went near the edge. I heard that they won't cut themselves if they crawl up a razor blade. This guy didn't want to try that trick :) Andre

Hey Andre, I see you're still on the "fancy foods" series. Nice natural golden ratio in the snail...repeated in the curve of the knife's blade and handle. At first I was concerned for the snail, then I saw it was just looking at his/her reflection (fantastic)! Kes

oooh! i love the head reflection!...so cool,Andre! it's funny how i don't mind snails but barely tolerate slugs...we have too many out here in wet-western WA...yuck! like the even light and the shell clarity/patterns ...good strong diagonal...well composed and interesting concept/title ;>
Thanks for feedback on my catch n' release...i wouldn't have seen the BIP award until another time had i not received your comment notice moments ago...nice to know there are members/staff who appreciate photo-art visions... regards, gayle

Andre, another sharp picture of the sharp object, a nice macro/still life shot.
Wow, now I know who ate the strawberry and looking for more. Or maybe I'm wrong, snails don't eat berries but anyway the knife is the same so there is an objective link to your previous picture.
OK, do I really need to say that much to support my opinion from my first sentence? Not really but cool, I'm still packing for my trip, but I may drop something into UF before I go. Got new camera (Fuji) and I'm exploring my new world of all my new capabilities.
Cheers, NJ

Phew... glad you cleared that up Andre! I was about to ask you to pass the salt... ummm... who said that? :O
This demonstrates a clear element of danger for the snail. The title works with the concept here far better than the previous set up. The focus feels a little soft on the snails head, but the subtle reflection on the plate makes up for it as it adds further interest in that area.
Hope you have more coming, I'm keen to see what else you have in store...
Cheers Rina.
