About About two years ago I was responsible for the drafting of a rehabilitation plan for an old silica quarry. In the process the illegal squatters on the property had to be moved to alternative housing. While explaining the situation to the parents, my eye caught the anguish caused by the news displayed in this young herd-boy's eyes. Fortunately they were moved to much better quality housing than those made of flattened 44 gallon diesel drums that form the background to this shot.

Taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4100, selective desaturation of the background and some dodging and burning in PS.

Very powerful image, still more if I read your about. What I really love in this pic is his expression and moreover the shadow under his back...it make me image that shadow has the shape of an angel wing.

A wonderfully striking image Joggie. The eyes and the hands have it. You certainly captured that moment of expression. Delighted to hear good news, that he ended up somewhere better.

Stellar shot and about,Joggie!...so glad to read that they now have good housing and hopefully a more comfortable life...his eyes do indeed convey anguish...the techs of the photo are very good and the slight darkening around the edges with the lighting keeps the emphasis on the boy...
strong,emotive image...congrats!
