Cool! I thought I recognised the familiar shapes; The reason I asked is the second gable structure, we don't see that too often here.

I'd like to take back my remark on the purplish tone in the background too, though. Guess I stepped in the pitfall of judging tones on a poor quality monitor again. I've got a well calibrated monitor at home, and the tone is great.

Great tools, aren't they, those colour spiders?

Cheers,

Hugo

Hugo - the building style is what we refer too as Cape Dutch. Heavily influenced by the Dutch styles of the 17th to 18th Century with some local influence leading to other variations. Regards.

Hi Hugo, thanks for commenting. For this shot I used the polarizer and actually had to lighten the sky for it was almost black. I wanted to show the faint cloud too. The colour - well my screen was calibrated to some international standard with a gadget that looks like spider and attaches to the screen. I did that for the purpose of printing enlargements at the printing house. It is standardized to ensure reliable printed colours throughout the industry. On my screen it does not have purple hue which I can detect - yet the eye can be very deceptive. Take care.

Hi Joggie, I like the various layers in the Gable; by any chance influenced by the Dutch Architecture? Difficult to tell without the overview...

the contrast is pretty fierce, but that's also an asset to this image. It works well, although I would slightly alter the hue of the blue sky, as it looks a tad purple on my monitors...

The textures in the plaster, as well as the subtle cloud in the sky make this shot, impressively high image quality!

Cheers,

hugo
