This photograph was taken from atop a boulder hilltop in the Hampi valley in India. Hampi was a famous kingdom of Krishna Deva Raya, one of the most wealthy rulers of medevial India. The boulder strewn hillocks and the unfordable Tungabhadra river provided natural protection to the kingdom from attackers. I wanted to depict the monumental role played by these natural forces in protecting the kingdom. Hopefully this photograph does justice to their effort.
