Excellent photo. I like the composition and the lightning it has. It transfers a lot of the atmosphere that surrounds this beasts. Very well achieved portrait!

It's an excellent portrait, Frank, full of dignity. Why didn't you try a macro in this case?...excuse me the joke.

I'm very flattered by your comments, Lisa. My lions and polar bears are inhabitants of the San Francisco zoo. I try to photograph them from perspectives that don't reveal signs of their captivity. I'm also using a 2X telconverter on my Nikon 995, which lets me zoom optically to 304mm. I'm just learning how to use it, and was very pleased to get such sharp captures this time out. Most of the credit goes to my tripod and good Nikon glass.

How do you get these amazing shots? Is this at a zoo or somewhere natural? Just amazing! I love the lion's stare!

Excellent night lighting. Very well captured Frank. I too would feel uneasy...in fact I do anyway! Great shot.(8
