About I came across this astonishing site on a walk around Wooler. A Wellington boot stuck on a gatepost!! I just had to snap a couple of this sight from different angles. We have a daft comedy here, called, ?Last of the summer wine?. It reminded me of one of the scruffy characters, Compo, who wore ?welly? boots and did stupid things.

The little town of Wooler is in the background.

A bit of humour, in a grim world.

I was reminded of this shot the other day, Colin, by a local farmer who has put a welly on top of each post for a long row of them. When I asked him why, he said "to scare the crows away." "Does it work_?" I asked. "Not very well," he said, "But it gives them something to think about." Funny guy... (all the wellies had holes in them).

Beautiful greens, Colin. And the boot - a great joke. Sorry for not visiting recently, it is good to see your pics. Cheers, Gyorgy

Well if Bill Owen could see the pastoral, surely, he would not miss the boot.
Sharp clear and colourful. Very nice shot.

Thanks for the last two comments, Len. There was a lot of misty exposure from the white sky. I don't yet have an ND grad filter. I'm not sure how to offset this over-exposure, white bleed otherwise.

Ha-ha! Nice shot - but it looks a bit hazy in the background (unless it's just this screen, which is always possible).

Well seen, Colin. A surprising sight! Did you try a portrait orientation shot, too. That would have been my choice, if only to get a rim of sky above the hilltops...

Well done Colin, the view of the background seem a bit foggy, it's probably cause by the wheather. Like your view almost across the fence. Good composition, the picture and the about.

Claude

Both my favs also, Jude. Just been watching Red Dwarf 8, ten minutes ago! We're on the same crazed wavelength! Probably why I rate your images so much!!!

*grin at Ellen*

I loved "The Vicar of Dibley," but my favorite Brit comedies are "Blackadder" and "Red Dwarf." There's just no American substitute for the strange and wonderful Brit sense of humor.

Does the show you mentioned come close to you accent? Is there a show that does? I'm afraid that's as close as I'm going to get.

Thanks Ellen. Pleased you liked my variation on your "Bad moon rising". Our accents up here, are even harder to understand, than the pretend Yorkshire ones on the show you mentioned!

I tried to watch that show but the accent just killed me. One of my favorites is The Vicar of Dibley. Wonderful shot marra.

Cheers, Joe. The 'welly' took me by surprise also!
Glad you enjoyed the picture as a conventional landscape, without noticing the humour!

I'll look at your landscapes when I can.

Regards

Colin
