Thanks for the kind words Nacho. This was a very expensive picture for me.
In the first place, it was this picture that convinced me to get a 85mm f1.8 prime lens. I’ve taken about 5000 pictures with that lens and I love it. Sadly the sickness hasn’t stopped there. I’ve ordered the 24-105/f4L which I expect to arrive today or tomorrow and it all started with a little bit of softness in this picture but the tones are nice.

Martin,
I hear what you?re saying about manual focus lenses. I wish I could! I just about had to give up photography when eye surgery took away my ability to use MF lenses. So I guess I?m stuck with auto focus or it?s nothing.

Michael,
Don't go out and spend a ton of money, before you try manual focusing... lol ... The EF and EFS series from Canon allows you to manual focus at any time...
I just went digital, kicking a screaming the whole way. I have the EFS 17-85mm USM IS, and it's ok. Although a bit soft IMHO!
I also have the EFS 60mm USM and it is equivalent to a 96mm lens by 35mm standards. You must multiply the lens by 1.6 with the Canon 20D... Although I haven't used enough to have an opinion regarding this piece of glass...
If I had my way, I would use my Nikon, or Tamron manual focus glass all day long, but you can't get the metering to work with any digital body, with 1 exception... The Pentax *ist D and DS meter with all prime lenses, that are auto aperture manual focus...
That?s why I went with Canon regarding Digital. If I have to buy all new glass, why not go with the best prosumer body, that I could afford?
Excluding the new Canon 5D they just come out with of course, which costs $3299.00 body only, cripes that?s just too much IMHO...
I think I'll get my digital Sekonic light meter out and shoot with my manual glass... lol ... Or I'll go back to film... lol ?
I do love my Bronica glass as well, but what can you use it with, besides the medium format body that it was made for? LMAO?

This portrait was an attempt to get a descent portrait from a lousy lens. Your comments confirm that I need a better portrait lens. I was thinking of the Canon 85mm f1.8 prime.

Nice fill in flash, but it's a bit soft? (IMHO) Don't know why? I might try dropping it to 125 @ f/8 to get a sharper image...
