Hi Gary. Thanks for the comment. I did have the photo cropped in a 20x24 that looked really nice. I really liked your Yukon Gold photo. I do have some relatives that live in BC in Victoria. Thanks again and have a great day!

Hi Doug... nice family portrait... we must be related!! hahaha... the only thing I would do, and this is only a matter of personal preference, is crop about say half of the sides and bottom area. This would have a similar effect of enlarging the people in the same sized picture... Otherwise, there isn't much to improve (other than what has already been mentioned). Cheers, Gary

This is well posed and arranged. Yes, I would have been tempted to try to tighten things up a little as a variation. Maybe use the bails of hay as risers to raise up the kids above the parents? But as it is it will make a terrific wall portrait!

Thanks Mark. I agree with you in that I would have liked to been able to group them closer together. Not to make excuses, but I had only a short period of time to get the group shot done. I wish that I would have had more time . . . Thanks again and you have a great day!! P.S. It makes a great panoramic!

Thank you Karina. The family is very happy with the photo, but I feel that I could have grouped them better so that there would not be as much hay in the picture. But thanks again and have a great day!!

Thanks. The light was great, though I did use one flash as fill on the left side as the light was not even. Thanks again for the wonderful comment. Have a great day!!

Looks like the various branches of the family are color coded by clothing. Interesting idea! Very nice photo, well posed and conceived. The use of stacked hay is an excellent way to express somthing about the family and also the region they live in, lifestyle, etc. Much is implied that way and it adds interest to this group.
I am NOT a portrait photographer (sadly) and I have so very little experience in this area. So take any suggestions as those of an amateur! With that said, I think I would like to see this shot taken at a -slightly- lower perspective, perhaps at the same height as the middle row of subjects? Or maybe just a camera angle placing the people a bit more toward the bottom of the frame is what I"m wishing for... And maybe if you had been able to pose them closer together or in one additional row you might have been able to get a closer shot of the faces. This portrait has a lot of unused space above and below the subjects (interesting background not withstanding) and I would like the faces to be closer.
But my uninformed suggestions aside, this is a lovely shot! You should be proud of this.

Wow Doug, I think you have a wonderful photograph as it is. The background blocks any unwanted light and the area brings in such beautiful light, your focus is right on........I see no way to improve on this my friend! A beautful family indeed.
