Thanks Alison, I just saw this, they do have a worn looking beak and this is only a juvenille, even in the closeup flying shots they have that worn look to there beaks and shoulders..
but in the classic full body pose they look great..
Take care....

Thanks very much Den, IMO the great blue does not get as much attention when shot very close or in flight with detail as they have that worn look to there beak and wings. but perched full body always does well, I was around 25 meters, actually got too close with the lens I had on, that is the problem with primes over zooms, you can get much detail and sharpness but if you get too close forget the flying shot....
Take care....

Wonderful capture and the details are amazing, the way you can see the wear and tear on his beak. Wonderful composition and great dof to bring him out so well. Alison

Hahah, to be honest Mary after I did a bit of work on the shot I was going to flip around to make a S like the other and forgot, so I added the number 2 as that is almost like a backwards S right LOL>....

Hey you found a project for this AND STILL NO BIP. What has a man got to do? This is sensational Marcus. How close were you to him, I can't get within 50 yards.
BIP or not it's going to my favs.

Congratulation for the BIP, Marcus. I may have told you that I prefer not to comment on BIPs because I think my comment to be superfluous.
This one , however, is very good with its S formed neck and yellow eye staring at the camere.
Thank you for your kind comment on my "Wineglass in mauve."
Best regards,
Rafi

Hi Marcus,
Another beautiful Heron shot! I'm going to try sneaking up on some tomorrow evening with my new kayak. The water is normally calm at night, so it is usually my best chance.
