Ya know, I really love to hear that, Elizabeth...sure all the "great shot" comments make you feel good (to a degree) but I'm always hungry, myself, for the more meat-and-potatoes comments, either explaining what I did wrong or what I did right! That's why I'm here, too...to learn...glad to know I might be able to offer another opinion to you, without the fear of stepping on toes...wish more people were like that.

Thanks for your comment Jan. It's a beautiful little park and hopefully we'll revisit this spot and try a different composition. Lots of obstacles around this little swing because it sits inside a gazeebo. I have more that I'll probably be posting during the week from this shoot. Please keep commenting - I learn more from the mistakes.

Thanks for the comments David. Strange how you just don't notice some things until either much later, or someone points it out.Which is what makes usefilm so great. I think my reasoning for her position was to avoid a white post (still a little visible) just to the right of her head - however, I think the composition as it stands needs improvement. I'll keep shootin'

I agree with David about the framing of this one...but I think the other is stronger basically because she is not competing so much with the flowers for your attention.

I just went back to the two portraits. I think what makes this one less attractive is the framing. The face is basically in the lower part of the frame and horizontally centered.
I think it would be more interesting if her head was more in the upper right side and the camera a little lower so the background would be all flowers and green without the concret. Not trying to be negative, just some ideas.
