Very nic, noody landscape. The edge burning seems overdone, though.

Excellent shot! I really like how the blowing sand appears to be blowing away from the cave. Seems a little spooky. Outstanding work! perfect 7!

Not a frame I usually would favor but here it helps focus the viewer on the central, um, vortex (for lack of a better word)... As for contrast I think it is what you want, even without the frame although Hansi made what I thought was a good point.

I think you might have lost some of the detail if you'd made it more contrasty. I think it's pretty spot-on as it is. I like the way the patterns in the sand direct your eyes into the centre of the frame - and I love that border - it's simple, unusual and effective in that it makes you focus on the centre and doesn't detract from the photo - great stuff.

Beautiful. The toning is awesome! I think contrast works here beacuse of the framing - without the frame I think it would come off a bit soft (and the solid blacks would have to be placed somewhere else to give it punch).

I can't decide how far the title should be trusted. Is it sand? Or is it water flowing into some mysterious dark cave (darker area near the centre)? One moment I think I know the answer, the next moment I am no longer sure. It is this uncertainty that makes looking at the photo quite an unusual viewing and thinking experience.
Regarding the burned-in frame, at the top it more or less fits, but on the sides and at the bottom it strikes me as too regular and consequently artificial-looking. It would be interesting to see a version without the framing for comparison.

Very nice composition, Ian. The contrast seems okay to me. Moody tones presented. Well done.

Thanks Niklas. It's a tritone. I convetred it to rgb but should have done the colout burn first i think because new colours have come up that distract. I agree. I think I preffered it at a way earlier stage of processing. Nor confident . I'm on my wifes laptop (she has photoshop).

Very powerful! The sand leads the eye nicely to the background with it's patterns.. Personally I might have left off the darkened framing. Good shot! Best regards, Niclas
