About This is from Fairburn Ingls last night - lovely pink sunset breifly came over the back of this wood so I wandred down a stupidly thin and fast road to get a shot at it. The gate was a bonus - nice an rickety, bit of character and lots of bright greens around it.

Had the pleasure of Alastair Bell's company once again too - just passing through on business so why not go out for a night of clicking on the way back?

There were 3 phases of clicking really

- panorams over from high above the lake and of the cooling towers, got some decent shots, but the sun was a bit bright even with loads of filters.

- Macros of dandilions and a spider's web. this was made more interesting with a spray Alastair had for his mountain bike - the web really jumped out then! Got to get a close up filter I think :-)

- Sunsets and swans - this was by the water's edge, we had a selection of swans, geese and ducks for moving targets, the lake and cooling towers for darker targets and the sunset behind (which this is) for a nice sunset.

Definitely got a few keepers :-)

Rounded it all off with a super curry buffet at Shabab on Eastgate, Leeds. their food's spot on.

Top night

Excellent capture Ade, glad you got to meet up with Alastair again - have you converted him over to Canon yet ;-)

Restaurant sounds great though I still want to get back to York and try that Turkish restaurant and get some more shots.

Though I am easily swayed lol

Best wishes,
Steve

Cheers Alastair!

I wandered down the road when you got the bazooka out (felt inadequate with my tiddler) and got out of shouting range when i found that fence! The sun was only there a few minutes, but got a decent selection, but they all have pylons and stuff in.... can't be arsed cloning that lot out!

No need for a midnight snack for me either - was stuffed to bursting point. Just got to resist temptation to go back tonight - I keep bobbing past it in town cause I play pool next to that car park!

All good fun, I think you always see a place differently when you've got another person there - all the closeups and stuff, I'd never have spotted those.

I reckon we do Leeds centre next time you're in the area - reflections on the canal, bridges, blue lights everywhere and the odd drunken fool candid! Welcome to kip in the futon room if you fancy a beer. Should get Steve down for that too.

Oh, was a mere 4 pints so was steady enough when we got to the second car park.

Cheers and see you soon

Ade

Hey wow Ade! You kept this quiet (and now I can see why!)... Excellent shot of a superb sunset... and a great reminder of a fun night out with the box brownies ;-)... and that curry was simply superb!!! Still felt full in the morning I ate so much! Thanks for your great company (and I can't believe how good this is - especially since you'd had how many pints?!)

What a great mixture of colours and textures. Great old gate, they do provide such good interest/focal points. That is why 'the bird watching spot' we went to is great, there is such great colours texture and the fact they are hanging off etc make them fun. It certainly works as great focal point here, makes sure you notice the pretty foreground greenery/flowers and then going back to the lovely sunset and silhouettes

cheers.... but retaining the power lines was more down to it being 1AM when I was editing it than reality!!

I've gotten fed up of that clone tool over the years!!

the lines are kind flowing in the right direction though.

here's another from the same kind of area last night

Cheers

Where are the pheasants?

It's such a peaceful scene though Ade and I find that retaining the power lines adds to the reality. Cool shot.

Ade,

You guys are at it again !!!!. Great to have an usefilm member at arms length as ready reckoner to meet at ones convenience.

Looks like you guys had great time with 'curry' and all.

I wonder why a "thin and fast lane" be stupid !

Nice and pleasing image.I could see you are playing with your filters again.

regards,
ken.

cannot put my finger on why I like this so much, perhaps because its the kind of scenery I was brought up in, (Lincolnshire).
