cheers sally - you've got good eyes or a bright monitor, I can't see a third ear on mine :-))
What I did to get it so close was select the middle focus point on the 10D, put the lens right up to him and slowly draw it back till it found the closest focus point, then took the shot from there with a flash bouncing off the cieling for a soft light!!
when I took a look it wasvery different to the usual shot I get of him, so took a bit of time over it - they usually get binned!
Going to try with the 15mm lens next - make his body tiny!

It sounds odd, - but I like the way the perspective has been distorted (by a short lens?) to give him a big head and little body. I also like the shallow dof, and the fact that even though there is no eye contact - you can tell he's just not impressed! I'd like it even more if you did a bit more burning to his 'third ear', and the pattern he's sat on. Nice photo - I'm going to grab a short lens whilst my cat's stood still!

Ade this is such a beautiful portrait of Keith, bet he was eagerly awaiting your return. I love the way the light catches on his eyelashes and whiskers Margaret

Cats always want to be fed Ade! Its part of being feline.... Great shot of him... really good use of DOF here and good work getting rid of the chair too. Now go give him some food instead of playing with pianos and cameras!
