Can you see why I like really wide-angle lenses? This was my 130-degree fisheye but "defished" to get rid of the curves. I don't think anything else could have put this teahouse in context so well. All it needed was a few ladies wearing kimonos... next time, perhaps.
Yes I love wide angeles to. In allmost all cases I use a wide angle lens. And checking the exif 99% is at the widest setting 17mm. I had be better of with a fixed 17mm. This is a nice shot typical for Japan I would think. Rob.
Amazingly straight lines from a fish-eye, Roger! A nice atmospheric shot of one of my favourite kinds of shops ~ after camera shops, of course! Best regards, Chris
Hi Roger, I do see why you like really wide-angles. they create a very strong effect and feel of perspective. The beams in the patio create a nice virtual vanshing point, and one that doesn't coincide with the composition. I think that's the primary reason why that part attracts so much attention in this shot. Even stronger, all vanishing points seem to be located on the right of the center of the composition. Quite unusual, but very interesting to see how that removes the attention away from the guy sitting on the left of the image. Intriguing!
