I like being able to see the everyday life in Japan through your lens Roger. This is a well presented assortment of colors and shapes. Good job with the lighting here. Once again everything looks so clean and neat..A very well taken image, beautifully presented....:) Linda

Another nice slice of life. If it were my photography I would crop the top and bottom to clean up the composition. A minor point.

John R., who recommended this lens, says it IS multicoated but doesn't have the high colour of Japanese MC lenses. The Bessaflex is very nice, but you must meter with the lenses stopped down. "Auto" lenses only stop down when you switch on the meter and open up again as soon as you release the shutter. "Manual" lenses stop down all the time, whether or not you are metering. The CV lenses for SLRs are all available with M42 mounts, including the excellent 40/2 and the macro (forget details)!

It's a lovely shot, nice colurs, friendly "models" !:-)) The uncoated lens makes Superia look a bit different, a certain softness compared to the modern CV glass is also clearly recognizable. B&W with Tri-X would be the right partner for this lens, some "timeless" views with a classical look maybe ?
How does the Bessaflex work ? Metering ALWAYS stopped down or also wide open with some special lenses ? It's a tempting little thing, the Bessaflex, thought about it already !
Are there new CV lenses for it too ?

Rob: One problem may be the old (ancient) Pentacon lens I was using. It is uncoated, and I have detected questionable colour rendering with it in lighting that was much less difficult than this. Fuji Superia emulsions are generally tolerant of mixed lighting but I think this one would have stretched the most sophisticated digital white balance function!

Small greengrocers are disappearing in Europe by the speed of light. Its all supermarket work these days.
Nice show of color display. You do have pictures with better colors than this one and I think it is because of the artificial light.

I get out of this a very happy women in a floral dress living life to the fullest... great comp.. I know how tough that lighting can be but you did very well with it
