About This was taken this evening on the rare occasion when I'm home and the skies have clairity. Taken through a budget 5inch achromatt refractor at prime focus. This is the first shot I have taken with this scope so I was just testing it's capabilities.

Great picture, Nigel. I haven't had time yet to try my new camera with my scope; soon, I hope. You are off to a great start. I am sure it is encouraging to get such a good shot on your first try. Have a wonderful time with your new scope. Mary

Nigel,

Nice work for a first attempt. A 5" aperture is great for the moon. Hopefully the weather and your schedule will allow you to conquer some of the other phases.

Yes I am indeed very pleased with this Neil as I wasn't expecting this kind of result from such a relativly inexpensive instrument. I was expecting to pick up some false colour around the edge of the moon but it was only just detectable through the eye.

Thank you for your comment.

Regards

Nidge.

Thank you Robert. Unfortunately since aquiring this scope I've had very little chance to use it due to the lousy weather and other duties taking me away from home. So still exploring it's capabilities.

Regards

Nidge.

Thank you for your praise Michael, I'm still finding my feet with this scope as it is quite a large instrument.

There's actually quite a lot of colour in there - subtle but adds a touch of something which makes this a great image. You must be really pleased with this.
