About Three Toed Kingfisher: This is smallest amongst all kingfishers available in Indian Sub-Continent. Very rare sighting in wild. Photographed in Western Ghats of India. This is my most favorite bird.

Toni,
Thanks for the comments.
Best idea to get picture of any bird is to follow their concerns. i.e. their food, habitate area, breeding season and place etc. Look for a nest of the kingfisher in your area during breeding season of a perticular bird and you will get it. Ofcourse one should not forget to use tent or hide while photographing any bird.

And finally it requires patience and passion

Beautiful, Shailesh. I can see why it is your favorite bird.
Such a cutie! I finally gave up on getting the Belted Kingfisher where I live. He is beautiful also, and very large. Just can't get near him and her. They see me coming 100 yards away and they take off.

I've had trouble with losing sharpness with compression, too. I emailed Artie and he made some suggestions. He advised that I "resharpen" the compressed image. That is, once you have compressed the image to the appropriate usefilm size, close your original image and reopen the compressed image that you are about to send. You will probably be disappointed with the sharpness and detail. Most photo software contains a "resharpen" function, which helps you to clarify lines that should be sharp. You can dial in whatever contrast and sharpness you desire. Then save the modified image and send that.
He also pointed out that the usefilm website only allows a certain file size, and if you send too big a file then usefilm will compress the image some more. You want to avoid that by sending a file small enough that the usefilm computer will not try to compress it a second time. For more details there is an article by Markus on this website.
You state that your original is really sharp. Try posting it again once you master those little details of compression.

Detlef,
You are right detlef. This is not even scanned from the original image. Original is (TP)scanned -printed-scanned the print-reduced the resolution & up loaded. The original Image is crystal Sharp. I will share it in short future.

I am facing difficulty while reducing the resolution of an image It gets softer. Please help.

Shailesh....wow. What an amazing bird!!! How do you like your Sigma 170-500? I have the 400APO which I use for bird photography. I can see why this would be your most favorite bird. Great job on catching him!

WOW! Shailesh! What a wonderful color (bird). I love bird pictures. I guess mostly because the are so darned hard to photograph. You did an excellent job. I love the colors of this little one. Don't believe we have any with such glorious colors around my parts. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's probably a good thing you have these critters and not me. I can't get even one bird in focus or not moving or not underexposed as of YET!. Great job!
