About For Den Thompson - as promised.

At last I have found and converted the missing slides I took in the late '70s and early '80s of both British Railways and the preserved railway at Swanage (where I was one of the volunteer track workers).

This photo is typical of the activities at the time.

Great shot, and well composed. I've taken one or two like this myself, and I know how tricky they can be to get it "just right". Well done.

Great find, Neil! They don't make them like that anymore!

Hi Neil. Thanks soooo much for this. I thought it was Swanage even before I read your About. That loco shed in the background is unmistakeable to rail enthusiasts. Great shot of an industrial loco. Locos like this did sterling work all around the country, not least at Stwarts & Lloyds steelworks at Corby, not far from here.
Thanks again for digging it out and sharing.

Howie,

You are quite and you do seem to have improved it. I only have PS Elements 2,so I'mnot sure if all those features are available to me. I used the Auto Levels but that was as far as I went. It had a slightly orange cast before putting it though PS Elements.

Good composition and nice salvage. I think it has a slight green cast to it though. I hope you dont mind but I run an auto colour correction in photoshop and then chose the black and white points in Curves. Also run a little usm with settings of 50, 1, 5
