again, sorry for replying so late, i appreciate your comments as well, i was intending for the shadow and i totally agree that the black and white conversion makes it so much more drastic and apparent, maybe it was a silly reason, but i kept the color since i liked the color of the hat, thanks again for the ideas,
cheers

ack, sorry for replying so late
i really do appreciate critiques and comments
the shadows actually fit with my intentions for the shot since it resulted in joy conveyed through just the smile, but perhaps a bit of fill flash for just outlines in the shadows may have made for a better shot, i guess we will never know, thanks for the thoughts!
cheers

I think the expression is nice, looks very natural.... almost candid. If you were trying to capture the shadow over the eyes for a dramatic effect than I think maybe this would work better in black and white.... just a thought! What do you think?

Hi Tim,
I don't know what your full intentions were with this shot. My thoughts would be, is that the photo could have done with a fill flash, this would have removed the shadow generated by the hat, seeing as you were in quite strong sunlight.
Thoughts?
Russell
